Dolly Parton's 5-Ingredient Casserole

Dolly Parton’s 5-Ingredient Casserole

  • Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed tomato soup
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) green beans, drained

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is warming up, grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with a little bit of butter or vegetable oil to prevent sticking during the cooking process.
  2. Place the thinly sliced potatoes in an even layer at the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Follow this with a layer of the sliced onion rings, spreading them out to ensure every bite has a bit of that wonderful aromatic sweetness.
  3. Spread the drained green beans over the onions. Next, take your raw ground beef and crumble it evenly over the top of the vegetable layers. There is no need to brown the meat beforehand as it will cook thoroughly and stay juicy in the oven.
  4. Open the can of condensed tomato soup and pour it directly over the beef. You can use a spoon to spread it out slightly, but it will naturally seep down into the layers as it heats up, creating a delicious and savory glaze.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes if you want the edges to get a little crispy. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving to your hungry holiday guests.
