Christmas Party Platter Ideas

Christmas Party Platter Ideas

  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, cut into cubes
  • 8 ounces brie cheese, sliced into small wedges
  • 6 ounces smoked turkey deli slices, rolled tightly
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, washed and dried
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries or apricots
  • 1 cup assorted multi-grain crackers
  • 1/2 cup raw almonds or walnuts
  • 1/4 cup honey or fruit preserves
  • 1/2 cup cucumber slices, cut into rounds
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs and pomegranate seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by choosing a large wooden board, a marble slab, or a flat holiday platter. Wash and thoroughly dry all fresh produce like grapes and cucumbers. If you are using honey or fruit preserves, place them in small decorative bowls or ramekins first and set them on the board to act as anchors for the other ingredients.
  2. Place the brie wedges and cheddar cubes in opposite corners of the board. Take your rolled turkey slices and nestle them near the center or in a curved line. Arranging the larger items first helps create a structure for the rest of the ingredients and ensures the weight of the platter is balanced.
  3. Fan the crackers out in a “S” shape or along the edges of the board. Fill the larger open spaces with clusters of red grapes and piles of cucumber rounds. These items provide a fresh contrast to the rich cheeses and savory turkey, making the board look lush and inviting.
  4. Tuck the almonds and dried cranberries into the smaller remaining spaces. Using these smaller items to fill “holes” makes the platter look professional and abundant. There should be very little of the board showing when you are finished.
  5. Finally, tuck small sprigs of fresh rosemary between the elements to mimic the look of evergreen branches. Sprinkle a few pomegranate seeds over the brie or around the board for a pop of festive red color. Serve immediately or cover and chill until the guests arrive.
